Love and Sex
by Shahinur Islam
Sex is the rationale of propagation and procreation of Nature, and love is the accepted way to reach it, though love takes institutional forms such as marriage. Nature has left no other alternative but sex for procreation. To have sex, love is desired. Without love sex is untoward.
Love is the trap of Nature, and man as well as other creatures is the victim of it. Sometimes love leads to sex; sometimes sex leads to love. They together direct life, so they are the driving forces of life. However, both love and sex are the conspiracy of Nature, and marriage is that of the social system, so Nature wears a wry, wish-fulfilling smile when we are satisfied with love and sex.
Nature does it to retain a perpetual stream, to maintain the continuity of creation. Every work requires a device or a system. Nature has opted for love and sex to retain its continuity. To serve this purpose, everything is created in pairs, and man has systematized and socialized his pairs.
To some, love is only sex-oriented; to a few it is spiritual; but to many, it is both physical and spiritual. It involves emotion and passion. Some divert their sex drive to other creative works, yet it does not run out. Man without love and sex is not liked, respected and recognized as human being. That we appreciate a man as a man and a woman as a woman is because each of them belongs to sex. Likewise we taunt and look down upon the eunuch socially because it belongs to no sex. Man must possess them. Without love man is called ruthless and stone-hearted, but without sex man is belittled and underrated while a melange of them makes man easy, normal, and attractive.
