The Moth International Short Story Prize-2017

Launched in 2011, the Moth Magazine is seeking short stories(within 6,000 words) from the authors across the world for the Moth International Short Story Prize- 2017. Three winning stories will be featured in the autumn issue of The Moth.


1st prize €3,000

2nd prize week-long writing retreat at Circle of Misse in France

3rd prize €1,000

Here is what they say about the eligibility and rules to enter:

The Prize is open to anyone.
Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been published, self-published,
published online or broadcast.
You can enter as as many stories as you like.
There is a word limit of 6,000.

Rules to Enter

The Prize is open to anyone (over 18), as long as the work is original and previously unpublished.
The entry fee is €12 per story.
Please remember to read the rules of the competition before you enter.


The winners will be announced in September 2017 and all three stories will appear in the autumn issue of The Moth.
